What to Feed a Kitten

Keep your kitten on the same food as its been on here at our home. at least 6 weeks. Give the kitten time to decompress. Coming home to a new environment can be quite stressful, so keeping the same routine every day and just keep a mental note on your kittens health and energy level. this is a good time for you to get to know your new kitten and their eating habits before switching the food.

How to feed your kitten when coming home?

Your kitten’s daily caloric needs will increase as they grow. To help them thrive, you’ll need to adjust the food amounts, depending on age and weight. but going home I suggest splitting the 3oz cans of wet food in 4 slices. Only feed one of those slices to the kitten about every 4 hours. But MAKE SURE they ALWAYS have access to dry food and FRESH WATER I always add in extra water to make the food more of a mash potato texture. It helps to maintain their water intake. If you are feeding a kitten to much their will be leftovers in the bowl. My rule of thumb is, If you walk away from it then you are done and I will pick it up.

Why do we Recommend Stainless Steel?

Stainless Steel is safe to use and does not harbor bacterial. it also don't clump and stick to the sides making it so much easier to manage when its time to clean it also don't hold onto odors like plastic. Its just so easy to clean in regular dawn dish soap and rinse with cooking grade vinegar to remove any bacteria left behind.

What Litter do we Use?

I Recommend all my families to start off with a Kitten attract litter, the reason for this will be for the kittens to leave home but also know exactly where to go in their new environment.  Remember these are still babies you are bringing home. we must make sure we always set them up for success.

TOYS

Toys are a vital part of your kittens life. its the nature to want to hunt for the prey. I have found that most kittens LOVe the springs and anything that crinkles.. wands are really good and safe way to teach kids to interact with the new kitten. but always supervise both during those sessions. Kittens not only need exercise but also brain stimulation. one of the best ways to do that is with puzzles. it just helps them become smarter so they can take over later.. one last item that is absolutely necessary is giving your teething kitten approximate things to chew safely. always supervise kittens as they are still babies and will find unnecessary trouble. Trees and Scratchers

Maine Coons are the largest domesticated cat breed and unfortunately the do not fit on most cat trees that are sold in stores. if you are looking at something that is reliable, sturdy and worth every penny check out cat tree king.

If you don't know cats need to scratch. they scratch for multiple reasons. Scratching helps them file down the outer layer of their nails along with getting a good stretch in their muscles.. so watch your cats scratching habits and find the best cat scratcher for their needs.

I am 100% AGAINST DECLAWING A CAT. IT SHOULD BE AGAINST THE LAW TO EVEN HAVE THE OPTION TO DO IT!!  THE VETS ARE AMPUTATING THE FIRST DIGIT OF THE PAW. SO IF YOU EVER HAVE FUTURE PLANS OF DOING THIS OR CANNOT HANDLE YOUR KITTEN SCRATCHING YOUR NEW COUCH THEN I AM NOT THE BREEDER FOR YOU.!!!
